Hi, I'm Jan Duffy the artist behind everything featured in my store. I was always interested in colour combinations, decorative fabrics, and the use of texture as a way to elicit a joyful reaction. However, I came to painting late in life. Following a career in the high-tech sector and a most enjoyable period as a jewellery designer and maker, I completed an English Literature degree and began to take painting seriously.

It is easy to forget the pleasure that colour, texture, flowers, and yes...whimsy, bring to our lives. Creating whimsical, colourful art has become my passion. I love flat images, very bright colours, and quirky patterns. The exuberance of my artwork can't help but give you a jolt of joy. Although the colours on your screen may not be as vibrant as the original artworks, I do hope you enjoy browsing this collection of whimsy.

My unique floral and abstract art is inspired by nature’s abundant freshness and vitality. Layers of colour, pattern, and whimsy reflect nature's energy and vitality.

All Joyful Art prints and products are based on my original paintings.  The variation in brush strokes and colour intensity created during the painting process transfers to the design and contributes to the special one-of-a-kind nature of each item. However, the colours in the original artworks may not be as vibrant as the colours on your screen.

I choose to use Canadian products for my original artwork whenever they are available. My prints and products are sourced from Canadian producers wherever possible. The items produced in and shipped from Canada are identified in the product description.
