Hi, I'm Jan Duffy the artist behind everything featured in my store. I was always interested in color combinations, decorative fabrics, and the use of texture as a way to elicit a joyful reaction. However, I came to painting late in life, following a career in the high-tech sector and a most enjoyable period as a jewelry designer and maker I completed an English Literature and started to take painting seriously.

It is easy to forget the pleasure that color, texture, flowers, and yes...whimsy, bring to our lives. Creating whimsical, colorful art has become my passion. I love flat images, very bright colors, and quirky patterns. The exuberance of my artwork can't help but give you a jolt of joy to brighten the day. My unique floral and abstract art is inspired by nature’s abundant freshness and vitality. Layers of color, pattern, and whimsy reflect the joy of the ocean, sunsets, and nature. I believe the vitality of exuberant artwork brings new energy to our surroundings and ultimately to our lives.

All Joyful Art prints and products are based on my original paintings.  The variation in brush strokes and color intensity created during the painting process transfers to the design and contributes to the special one-of-a-kind nature of each item.

I choose to use Canadian products for my original artwork whenever they are available. My prints and products are sourced from Canadian producers wherever possible. The items produced in and shipped from Canada are identified in the product description.
